Sawmill industry offers solutions

The Finnish Sawmills Association promotes the business of its member companies by monitoring their interests. The association’s membership consists of approximately 30 companies operating in different parts of the country. Almost all of our members are family-owned businesses.

Sawmills produce timber for the construction, joinery, furniture and packaging industries. Wood is a renewable material, and by promoting it we can reduce the use of non-renewable natural resources. Wood binds carbon dioxide as it grows, and carbon is stored to wood products throughout their life cycle. The energy used in sawmills comes from renewable sources, and more energy is generated in the process than is consumed. At the end of the life cycle, the sawn timber can be used as energy.
